Sentencing hearings for two former University of Kansas athletics employees should be delayed so they can help prosecutors working on the KU ticket skimming scandal, their lawyers said Wednesday. In separate motions filed in Kansas federal court, lawyers for Jason Jeffries and Brandon Simmons asked that hearings scheduled for Sept. 29 be delayed to allow the men to earn sentence reductions by cooperating with authorities.

Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins has retired effective immediately, according to a university release issued Tuesday afternoon. Perkins had announced in June that he would retire in 2011.

Kansas true freshman Keeston Terry of Blue Springs made four tackles at safety on Saturday a few weeks after changing positions from wide receiver.

LAWRENCE | Kansas coach Turner Gill hasn’t been around all that long, so forgive him if he doesn’t quite understand what Saturday night meant. LAWRENCE | Kansas quarterback Kale Pick says he’s gotten all kinds of advice from Turner Gill and Chuck Long, both former stars at his position. This week, as Pick prepares to make his first college start, more nuggets of wisdom will be offered — possibly none more essential than a lesson from Long about how to manage the pregame meal. If Gill was paying any attention to the opposing sideline on Sept. 11, 1982, when his Nebraska team spanked Long’s Iowa team 42-7, he’d surely remember the cautionary tale that unfolded that day:

Kansas freshman guard Josh Selby said on his Twitter account Tuesday afternoon that “I feel good about me being cleared but I don’t know for sure.” The NCAA is investigating the relationship between Selby and Robert “Bay” Frazier, who is the business manager for Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony and advised Selby during his college recruitment process. Selby, Anthony and Frazier are all Baltimore natives.

Kale Pick will be KU's starting quarterback, coach Turner Gill announced Thursday. Pick, a 6-foot-1, 208-pound sophomore from Dodge City, appeared in seven games for the Jayhawks last season.
